OUR INSANELY HOPPY EXPERIMENTAL IPA SERIES IS BACK FOR ROUND 2!

Updated: Nov 14

This week we have a crazy new DIPA, Hop Reckoning 2, alongside three other new beers: Requisite Flavor, FVX 2: A Tart Saison, and Our Old Pals! See below for more info.

Hop Reckoning 2 | NE style DIPA | Juicy, Hoppy & Dank | 4pk Cans & Draft (Taproom Only)

Hop Reckoning 2 is a bold, new, 8% NE-style DIPA. Continuing our experimentation with intense dry-hopping processes, we’ve packed this brew with a whopping 12 pounds of hops per barrel—double our usual load for DIPAs—to create a deeply hoppy, aromatic experience. Loaded with Citra, Mosaic, and Nelson Sauvin, along with Motueka and Riwaka hops from @freestylehops, this ultra-limited release unleashes a burst of hop-forward flavor that embodies our drive to break boundaries. Pouring an opaque yellow color, upon tasting we’re finding massive notes of freshly squeezed OJ, juicy white grapes, lush peaches, and Sauvignon Blanc wine along with ripe blueberry and fresh mango.

VX 2: A Tart Saison | Saison | Citrusy, Tart, Refreshing | 22oz Bottles & Draft

The second beer in this series is FVX 2: A Tart Saison. Tipping off at an extremely drinkable 6.3% ABV, this new Saison was fermented with a traditional yeast strain before adding a strain of Lactobacillus for enhanced flavor and a touch of acidity. This Saison is semi-dry, with a light body and high carbonation rate, and is extremely refreshing. Pouring this beer into a glass reveals dark orange liquid, topped by a fluffy white head. Upon tasting, we’re finding a pleasant tartness with notes of sweet Meyer lemon, freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, hints of peppery spice, and light floral esters. Please note, that this beer is bottle conditioned, so you can expect some light sediment at the bottle of the bottle.

Requisite Flavor | NE style IPA | Juicy, Hazy, Tropical | 4pk Cans & Draft

Requisite Flavor is a 6.6% NE style IPA. One of the most intense single IPA’s we’ve ever brewed, Requisite Flavor is Double Dry Hopped with Citra, Citra Cryo, Galaxy, and a new product Amplifire Hop Pellets (we’re using the Motueka variety). Using Amplifire Hop Pellets allows for more concentrated hop flavor without having to increase the dry hopping rate. Not only does this give the beer more flavor but it reduces the amount of “green-ness” you’d get from higher rates of dry hopping. Pouring a vibrant tangerine color, we’re finding big notes of lemon-lime and assorted citrus, accompanied by passion fruit, Dole pineapple juice, and peach.

Our Old Pals | Collab w/ Twin Elephant Brewing | Altbier | Malty, Dry, Rich | Draft Only (Cans will be available at a later date)

Our Old Pals is a new 5.4% Altbier brewed in collaboration with Twin Elephant. Brewed as true example of the style, we utilized the same mash process as our recent Oktoberfest Märzen. We went the extra mile for our take on this traditional German-style beer by employing a complex mashing program, featuring multiple temperature steps and a single decoction. The brewing process also features a choice selection of German malts and was fermented using Lager yeast but at slightly warmer temperatures than you would typically see for a Lager. Pouring a dark copper topped by a fluffy cream-colored head, Our Old Pals has an assertive hop bitterness balanced by a sturdy yet clean and crisp malt character. The liquid is malty, rich, complex, and dry, with a slightly nutty finish.
