Our biggest release of the year and an annual tradition dating back to the early days of Brix, Silk City Day continues to be a benchmark for what we stand for as a brewery: sharing good beer with good folks!
We continue that tradition this Saturday (4/20) by releasing FIVE unique variants of our Silk City stout. Silk City is a rich and luscious Imperial Stout typically aged in hand-selected, freshly emptied, barrels from A. Smith Bowman Distillery. The 2024 vintage features a selection of Silk City stouts all aged 6 months in Bourbon Barrels. This year sees the return of our base variant along with four new ice cream-themed variants. Silk City (2024) Bourbon Barrel-Aged // 10.5% abv // Our rich, luscious, Imperial Stout base aged 6 months in hand-selected, freshly emptied, Bourbon Barrels from A. Smith Bowman Distillery. The 2024 vintage opens up with aromas of dark chocolate, burnt brown sugar and vanilla with hints of smoke. On tasting, we're finding notes reminiscent of dark and milk chocolates swirled together and sweet caramel with a roasted, lightly bitter, finish.
Silk City (2024) BBA Tiramisu // 10.5% abv // Inspired by a favorite Italian dessert turned ice cream flavor. This beer builds off our Silk City Coffee variants from previous years and is conditioned on Cocoa Nibs, Vanilla, and Coffee from our friends at Roast'd Coffee. Pouring this beer into a glass reveals aromas of powdered coca, maple, and cinnamon with hints of coffee. Upon tasting, we're finding notes of milk chocolate, Eggo cereal, and lightly roasted coffee beans followed by bourbon vanilla and a smooth finish.
Silk City (2024) BBA Neapolitan // 10.5% abv // Inspired by a popular combination of classic ice cream flavors, this variant is conditioned on Cocoa Nibs, Vanilla, and fresh Strawberries. // Upon pouring this beer into a glass, Silk City Neapolitan unleashes aromas of light booze, burnt brown sugar, freeze-dried ice cream, and chocolate-covered strawberries. On tasting, we're finding flavors of melted fudge, dark chocolate, and berries dipped in sweet cream with a touch of booze in the finish.
Silk City (2024) BBA Mint Chocolate Chip // 10.5% abv // Inspired by one of our favorite ice cream flavors, this variant is conditioned on Cocoa Nibs and Thin Mint cookies. // Silk City Mint Chocolate Chip opens up with a strong aroma of booze, burnt brown sugar, and vanilla with hints of maple and mint. On tasting, we're finding flavors of double chocolate chip cookies, sweet caramel, and dark roast coffee followed by hints of mint and heavy booze with a medium bitter finish.
Silk City (2024) BBA Banana Split // 10.5% abv // Inspired by an iconic part of American dessert culture, this variant is conditioned on Cocoa Nibs, Vanilla, and flavorful Wild Thai Bananas. Pouring this beer into a glass reveals aromas of sweet brown sugar and chocolate-covered banana slices mixed with a hint of booze. Upon tasting, we're finding notes of freshly made fudge brownies along with an explosion of ripe bananas followed by chocolate milk and a smooth finish.
