With over 50 breweries packed into the city, pre-Prohibition Newark, NJ was once a powerhouse of beer production on the East Coast. Newark is nicknamed "Brick City" for its high-rise buildings made of stone and brick.

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
In 2010, long-time friends Joe and Pete purchased their first home brew kit. They didn't realize it yet but this would become the beginning of Brix City Brewing. From then on most of their free time was spent brewing (and drinking) beer. Before long, the two decided to turn their hobby into a career and they began developing plans to open their own brewery.
BERGEN COUNTY'S FIRST FULL-PRODUCTION CRAFT BREWERY
Having grown up in Bergen County, Joe & Pete decided local Little Ferry would be the perfect place for their brewery to call home. In May 2015, after months of renovations, hard work, and spilled beer, Brix City Brewing officially opened its doors!
A NEW CHAPTER BREWING
In May 2025, almost exactly 10 years after opening its doors, Brix City bid farewell to 4 Alsan Way in Little Ferry due to rising rent and began searching for a new place to call home. In the meantime, with the support of key industry partners, Brix continues brewing beer for distribution to bars, restaurants, and liquor stores.
TODAY, TOMORROW & BEYOND!
With the passing of each year, Brix continues to improve techniques, expand its portfolio, and grow the Brix City brand. However, no matter what changes, our mission remains the same... Jam out to great music and make great beer to share with our local community!
